Holloway praises fans after QPR win

first_imgQPR’s win moved them to the 50-point mark Ian Holloway praised QPR fans after the 4-1 victory over Norwich at Loftus Road.Rangers came from behind after Ryan Manning’s freak own goal, with Massimo Luongo, Matt Smith and Ebere Eze scoring before Manning headed in the fourth.“I think it’s down to the fans,” Holloway declared.”The fans are really appreciating the way the players are working and the skill they’ve got, and that bodes well for the future.“I want to thank the fans, because the atmosphere they’re creating for these young gentlemen is something sensational.“No matter whether they get it wrong or not, they still want the ball and they (the fans) can’t wait to see them do something.#The exciting Ebere Eze impressed again for QPR © Yui Mok/PA Wire“It’s very exciting, so thanks everybody from me – you’ve made us not worry about letting a goal in.”Norwich manager Daniel Farke said his team failed to deal with QPR’s long balls to Smith, but Rangers boss Holloway insisted they are about much more.Teenage forward Eze was a threat throughout and his goal was his second for the R’s.Holloway said: “We’ve got different skill sets. Matt is as good at doing what he does as anyone in our league and in the top league.“And we’ve got Ebere and what he’s got. He’s very exciting. I want him to create goals and score for us.“I’m very pleased with him. He’s a wonderfully balanced, intelligent boy and he wants to learn.“He glides and he floats. Ebere just beats you so easily. I want to encourage him to get in there and the team to give it to him.“We’ve got belief and why wouldn’t you have that with the skill we have on the pitch? I can see us getting stronger and stronger.”Luongo’s goal was his fourth in seven games and, coming straight after Rangers went behind, proved to be a pivotal moment in the game.Holloway said: “I thought the lads showed terrific skill and mentality to score as early as we did. It was a fantastic goal – a couple of little one-twos.“I gave Mass rest the other day. We look fantastic when he’s in there in that form. He’s starting to get prolific.”See also:QPR come from behind to crush NorwichFarke: Norwich failed to deal with QPR’s long-ball tacticsTwo more QPR youngsters in line for first-team chance at HullQPR v Norwich player ratingsPalace and Brighton monitor QPR’s EzeHolloway: QPR youngster Eze still has a lot to learn Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebookby Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksRecommended for youAspireAbove.comRemember Pauley Perrette? South Africa’s ’30-day TV advert’

first_img18 August 2009 While most television advertisements only last for 30 seconds, the 2010 Fifa World Cup offers South Africa the opportunity to stage a 30-day advertisement to the world, says 2010 Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairman Irvin Khoza. Speaking at the 2010 National Communication Partnership conference in Johannesburg on Monday, Khoza said the World Cup was a once-in-a-lifetime marketing opportunity for South Africa. “Think of the tournament as a 30-day commercial for South Africa – a 30-day television commercial to be watched by a cumulative audience of billions around the globe – this is the scale of our opportunity for South Africans to present this country effectively and proactively,” Khoza said. The LOC chairman said it was up to South Africans to decide what the message of the “30-day commercial” would be. The 2010 Fifa World Cup will be played in nine South African cities over a period of 30 days, with 32 teams playing 64 matches in the battle to be crowned football champions of the world. Assessed in terms of the number of worldwide viewers, the World Cup is the world’s biggest sporting event. It is expected to draw in a cumulative worldwide television audience of more than 26-billion spectators in 2010 – for Germany 2006, the total cumulative television audience was 26.3-billion. Using Monday’s occasion to give a 2010 stadium construction update, Khoza said the six stadiums that have not yet been completed are 80 percent complete and would be complete by the end of the year. Meanwhile, the latest research indicates a major shift in confidence among South Africans regarding the country’s ability to pull off a successful World Cup. During the first quarter of 2009, a Fifa-commissioned survey revealed that 88 percent of South Africans felt a sense of pride at being the first African country to host the World Cup, while 77 percent predicted the tournament would be a success. And in May this year, a separate survey by African Response found that 89 percent of South Africans believed the World Cup would benefit the country. Black Friday, Cyber Monday… #GivingTuesdaySA

first_imgGiving Tuesday is the global day of giving celebrated on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  USD301M (R4.2B) was raised in 2017 in 24 hours around the world.  It harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage local philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. The idea is simple – if you shop on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, consider a gift back to those who need it on Giving Tuesday.November 27 this year launches the concept in South Africa and is identified to tie in with the centenary celebrations of Nelson Mandela.  Trevor Noah is supporting the global #GivingTuesday movement and will match up to R2 million in donations made to his eponymous foundation.  His efforts will double the impact he has on education – support for government schools including career guidance, counseling, digital access, and other critical social, emotional, and academic enhancement for kids in South Africa.  But more than that, through his leadership, he is empowering and inspiring more people to give. While Trevor chooses education, the beauty of #GivingTuesdaySA is that it is not a single-cause day.  It is a day to give to a cause that is meaningful to you at an amount that is meaningful to you.  Terry Pheto, Kabelo Mabelane & Danny Koppel, Brent Lindeque, and Bokang M Tshabalala have all offered their giving stories, in support of #GivingTuesdaySA. They share how they support initiatives and give hope through Save the Children South Africa, the Shout Foundation, the Good Things Guy, and the Bokang Montjane Foundation respectively.Trevor also joins the ranks of Bill & Melinda Gates, Richard Branson, Facebook, Paypal and other global icons in using his power and reach to celebrate generosity. As it’s the first year of #GivingTuesdaySA, through this powerful matching gift, the day is truly owned and celebrated as proudly South African.  If there’s one thing Trevor excels at, it’s getting us all to have the conversation no one wants to have.  His leadership, along with the other notable South African philanthropists, can help us all have a more open and honest conversation around giving, and highlight this generosity to the world.  Share a story of giving that’s inspired you here. What if social media could be harnessed to make a more collective impact and our contributions could be more visible to those around us?  In giving, we showcase the best version of ourselves.  In an age of increasing division, help us use social media to spread generosity.   This November 27th, join the movement and give – whether it’s some of your time, a donation, a gift or the power of your voice in your local community. This is global day, but this is also a moment for South Africa to shine.  #GivingTuesdaySAWeb: www.givingtuesdaysa.orgSocial: @givingtuesdaySAContact: info@givingtuesdaysa.orgPhone: 011 5233259last_img read more

Partners Set Up Coal Transshipment Hub in Vietnam

first_imgzoom An alliance of three partners will position a Floating Transfer Platform (FTP) in South Vietnam capable of discharging and loading all bulk carriers up to and including 210,000 dwt Newcastlemax. The partners, including Vietnam’s coal importer Welhunt, bulk carrier shipping firm Oldendorff Carriers and Vietnam-based logistics provider Haivan, said that this platform “will be the first and only multi-user facility in Vietnam.”Able to work at a discharge rate of up to 25,000 metric tonnes per day, the FTP is specifically designed to handle growing coal imports. The Floating Transfer Platform positioned in Vietnam has two cranes, hoppers and conveyor belts and will be able to tranship the coal from large ocean going vessels into shallow draft barges. By using the largest and most economical vessels, the coal can be sourced and transported from any port around the world. The barges will deliver the coal directly to the jetties across Vietnam and potentially other nearby markets in an environmentally friendly manner, Oldendorff said.Vietnam is currently facing a significant challenge to receive and export growing volumes of bulk cargoes due to shallow ports and relatively poor port infrastructure. Coal imports in particular have grown more than 100% per year from 2010 to 2017 and the total volume of coal imported is projected to reach 60 million tonnes per year by 2025.Image Courtesy: Oldendorfflast_img read more
