Uganda Cranes out to consolidate top spot when they host Tanzania

However, despite Sserunkuma’s absence, head coach Sebastian Desabre is optimistic his side will grab all three points.“It is going to be a crucial game but our players are prepared and focused, said Desabre in the pre-match press conference.“My assistants and me have tested the abilities of our players since January and we have made our strategy to win the game.“I want to put up something different with my philosophy, continued the Frenchman.“I respect our opponents but i promise we shall play to get the best results on Saturday.“My players are well motivated and ready for the game.Tanzania who will go into the game hoping their star-player Ally Samata offers them the much need inspiration to build on their one point gained from game day one.Match Stats:Head to Head.This is the 14th meeting of the two neighboring sides since 2007.In that period, Uganda has won six (including shoot-outs)and lost only three of the 13 games, with the other three ending in stalemates.Uganda will surely be beaming with confidence going into the encounter as they have not lost to Tanzania in 90 minutes since the 1-0 loss to Emmanuel Amunike’s side back in September 2007.The last meeting between the two sides ended all square in the CHAN qualification back in 2015.Uganda.The Cranes head into the game having won all their last three AFCON qualification games , scoring four and conceding only one goal.The last time Sebastian Desabre’s men lost an AFCON qualification game was on 26-March-2016 when they went down 1-0 to Burkina Faso.Since 2006, Uganda has lost only one of their last 16 home AFCON qualifiers (W12, D3). That was the 1-0 defeat to Emmanuel Adebayor’s Togo in October 2014.The Cranes are also not easy to penetrate as they have conceded only three goals during those 16 games.Tanzania.Tanzania on the other hand go into the game in wanting form, having not won any of their last eight AFCON qualifiers (D4 L4).Their last victory in the qualifies dates back to May 2014 when a John Bocco early strike was enough to see of Zimbabwe.Away from home, their form has been close to terrible, winning only one game since October, 2006 (D3 L7).The sole victory came in a 1-0 away victory against Burkina Faso.Comments last_img
